Sensei Patrick  - Yondan (4th Degree Black Belt) Wado Kai - Yondan (4th Dan) Shindo

Sensei Patrick , Head Instructor of the Yellowknife  Wado Karate Club (YKWKC), officially opened the club in October 2009.  When he was 16 years old he began training in Isshinryu Karate.  Sensei Patrick originally received his initial Wado Kai karate  training in Hay River, NWT.   He now resides on Panglao Island, Bohol in the Philippines and as Head Instructor of the club provides advice and support to the Chief instructor and club black belts to ensure the continuation and continuity of the club presence in Yellowknife.  Sensei Masaya now leads as the Chief Instructor of the Club as well as organizing the day to day operations of the club.

Sensei Patrick received his Black Belt in Edmonton on May 4th, 2012.  In October 2019 Sensei Patrick received the rank of Yondan or 4th Dan in Yellowknife from the Wado Karate Association of Canada (Wado Canada).   Sensei Patrick provides support and advice to the club through the authority of Shihan Greg Reid 8th Dan and Wado Canada.   

The club if fortunate now to have 6 Black Belts training and instructing here in Yellowknife.  Currently, Sensei Patrick is retired to the Philippines and plans on opening another Wado Karate club in the Philippines and continues pursuing his desire to someday grade to Godan (5th Degree Black Belt).

The Yellowknife Wado Karate Club is a non-profit, family orientated traditional karate organization focusing on  Hironori Otsuka's and Masuru Shintani's teachings and values of integrity, honesty, courage and humility.

Our club promotes a traditional karate training regime for adults and children in a safe and positive learning environment.  We p
romote and support opportunities for children, young adults and adults to develop sound karate and self-defense skills,  in a manner that promotes physical fitness, personal discipline and healthy lifestyles.

Our objective is to support and preserve our Master's teachings and values through the teaching of traditional Wado  Karate and Shindo.
